ABOUT US
It’s 1994 and two high school friends get together for dinner. Don Mangan and Rick French grew up in the same neighborhood and ended up working in the same industry. Don was an owner/operator grader and Rick was an estimator/salesman for a local paving company. That night over dinner Pave West was born. The two friends started in La Habra, CA with three employees and that first year grossed $1 million. In 2007, still in La Habra and still friends, they grossed $37 million and employ 60 people.
When Rick and Don first started out they offered patch and seal services. They brought in Don’s brother, Dick, who has a background in engineering and construction. Pave West has broadened its scope of services to include all aspects of paving and grading.
If you are interested in Pave West for your next project, one of these people will meet with you to discuss the best option for expeditiously satisfying your project requirements:

Don’s introduction to the paving industry came through a friend he partnered with for three years, starting in 1983. Through this partnership he learned the basics of grading, asphalt and concrete. In 1986 he ventured out on his own, accumulating both equipment and more experience. As DPMangan, the business grew to about $1 million per year. In 1994 he had dinner with Rick French, and the rest is history.

Rick’s forte is sales and estimating. This is how he started in 1987 with Century Paving, and this is where he met Tim McLean. In 1988 he switched to United Asphalt where he continued as an estimator and also started working in management. For six years he was educated in the nuts and bolts of selling and managing, learning all he needed to know to run his own business. And then in 1994 he had dinner with Don Mangan, and the rest is history.
