Recycling Technology: PULVERIZING

Pave West is knowledgeable in the most current and accepted methods of recycling technology. At the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks, the original specifications called for the complete removal and replacement of all the asphalt, plus removal of 18 inches of subgrade. Pave West, along with the mall owner, Macerich, decided to instead pursue pulverizing, re-grading, and paving utilizing the existing asphalt. The pulverized old asphalt was re-laid as base material. This method is a great alternative to conventional remove and replace because it significantly reduces the time required for moves and the cost of materials. At The Oaks, Pave West saved Macerich in excess of $1 million on a 1.3 million square foot project and the quality of the finished paving was comparable to the original specifications.

Rather than removing and replacing the asphalt at this site (Azusa Commons), Pave West pulverized it, re-graded it and then paved on top of the grindings.
